The TDK InvenSense ICM-42688-P 6-axis motion tracking inertial measurement unit (IMU) provides ultrasonic-based obstacle detection, unaffected by object color, material, or ambient lighting conditions.

The TDK Invensense ICM-42688-P IMU provides this sensing function without raising privacy or security concerns. These motion sensors enable close-range sensing, addressing blind spots in computer vision (CV)- or LIDAR-based solutions.

High-Precision Six-Axis MEMS Motion Tracking® Device

The ICM-42688-P is a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) motion tracking device that combines a three-axis gyroscope and a three-axis accelerometer. It features a configurable host interface, supporting I3C℠, I²C, and SPI serial communication.

It is equipped with a 2 kB FIFO and two programmable interrupts, supporting ultra-low-power motion wake-up to minimize system power consumption.

The ICM-42688-P supports high-precision external clock input, which helps reduce system-level sensitivity errors, improves directional measurements in gyroscope data, and decreases the sensitivity of ODR to temperature and device-to-device variations.

The device is the first to support a 20-bit FIFO data format, achieving high data resolution. This FIFO format encapsulates 19-bit gyroscope data and 18-bit accelerometer data.

Other industry-leading features include the InvenSense on-chip APEX motion processing engine for gesture recognition, activity classification, pedometer, programmable digital filters, and embedded temperature sensors.

The device supports a VDD operating range of 1.71V to 3.6V, along with an independent digital input/output power supply VDDIO, also ranging from 1.71V to 3.6V.
