Development History of Electromagnetic Flowmeters in China
1. Initial Stage (Late 1950s - 1960s): In 1958, Shanghai Institute of Thermal Instruments and Shanghai Guanghua Instrument Research Institute collaborated to copy Soviet products, initiating the R&D journey. In the early 1960s, Shanghai Guanghua Instrument Factory began supplying products to the market. In 1967, the state organized the systematic design of electromagnetic flowmeters, successfully developing and producing a series of domestic products in a short period, laying a solid foundation for talent and technology for subsequent development.
2. High Tide of Technological Development (1970s): Driven by international technological advancements, domestic theoretical research entered a peak period. In 1975, professors from Peking University were invited by Kaifeng Instrument Factory to conduct mathematical analysis on the weight function theory of electromagnetic flowmeters. Multiple universities also participated in the research, successfully developing China's weighted magnetic field electromagnetic flowmeters and propelling the technology to a new level.
3. Standardization and Maturity Stage (1980s - Late 20th Century): In 1980, China formulated industry standards for electromagnetic flowmeters, which were continuously revised to align with international standards. During this period, microelectronics and computer technology advanced manufacturing techniques, leading to an increase in the number of manufacturers. Annual output rose from less than 1,000 units to nearly 30,000 units, with product calibers and measurement accuracy continuously optimized. Low-frequency square wave excitation became the mainstream technology.
4. Intelligent Upgrade Stage (21st Century - Present): Driven by national strategies such as "Made in China 2025," the industry has transformed towards intelligence and networking. Products integrated with single-chip microcomputer technology offer bidirectional measurement, self-diagnosis, and fieldbus communication capabilities. Meanwhile, applications have expanded in environmental protection, energy, and other sectors, with enterprises enhancing their technological innovation capabilities and competitiveness in the international market.
